Role Overview 

The Training Manager is responsible for leading the strategic development, business growth, quality assurance, and delivery of R&D Group’s training and capacity-building services. The role oversees curriculum development, trainer management, training product development, client acquisition, project-based training implementation, and digital learning initiatives. The position ensures that all training programs are market-driven, client-focused, financially sustainable, and aligned with organizational growth objectives. The Training Manager will work closely with internal departments, clients, consultants, trainers, and ecosystem partners to expand R&D Group’s training portfolio and strengthen its position as a leading training provider in Ethiopia. 

Key Responsibilities 

  •  Lead the overall strategy, planning, growth, and performance of the Training and Academy function. 

  •  Develop and implement annual training plans, departmental targets, budgets, and revenue generation strategies. 

  •  Drive business development efforts to secure new training contracts, corporate clients, and capacity-building opportunities. 

  •  Design, package, and promote market-driven training products, services, and open registration training programs. 

  •  Conduct market research and training needs assessments to identify emerging skills demands and new business opportunities. 

  •  Build and maintain strategic relationships with clients, partners, industry associations, training institutions, and development organizations. 

  •  Lead the development, review, standardization, and continuous improvement of training curricula, methodologies, and learning materials. 

  •  Oversee the development and management of e-learning courses, digital learning content, and online learning platforms. 

  •  Establish and manage a database of qualified trainers, consultants, coaches, mentors, and service providers. 

  •  Manage the recruitment, onboarding, deployment, performance evaluation, and capacity development of trainers and consultants. 

  •  Oversee the planning, coordination, implementation, and quality assurance of all training and capacity-building programs. 

  •  Manage project-based training interventions and ensure timely delivery of agreed outputs, targets, and client expectations. 

  •  Monitor training performance, participant outcomes, client satisfaction, and overall impact of learning interventions. 

  •  Ensure safeguarding, Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI), accessibility, and quality standards are integrated into all training activities. 

  •  Collaborate with technical, project, MEL, and business development teams to strengthen program effectiveness and reporting. 

  •  Lead, coach, and supervise training department staff while ensuring efficient resource utilization, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

Job Requirements

Qualifications & Experience 

  •  MA in Education, Business Administration, Human Resource Management, or related fields 

  •  Minimum 7–10 years of relevant experience in training management, capacity building, curriculum development or instructional design 

  •  Proven experience managing training providers, consultants, and trainers 

  •  Experience in curriculum development, instructional design, and training program structuring 

  •  Demonstrated experience in managing e-learning content development and digital training platforms is a plus 

  •  Experience overseeing learners and managing training delivery processes 

  •  Strong network within the training and skills development ecosystem 

  •  Experience in enterprise support, MSME development, or business advisory programs is highly desirable

  •  Ability to manage multiple service providers and training streams simultaneously 

  •  High attention to detail and delivery standards 

  •  Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools  Willingness to travel frequently
