Comunità Volontari per il Mondo (CVM) is a non-profit making Christian Organization based in Ancona, Italy. It was founded in 1978 by a group of people who had deeply dedicated but also had the concern to help people in their struggle to exist in this world irrespective of who are and where they are from. Comunità Volontari per il Mondo (CVM) has been working in Ethiopia since 1995, focusing its work on water, hygiene, and sanitation, HIV prevention, and control through socio-health interventions, promotion of social policies and human rights, promoting social inclusion and minority rights, support for training and access to education, leather sector, socio-economic and micro-credit development, decent work for Domestic Workers and safe migration. CVM is being implemented diverse projects in different regions of Ethiopia.

2. Function of the Job 

The social worker manages individual cases taken over by the project (minors, returnees, trafficked women), liaising with the psycho-social support service, involving beneficiaries individually and directly.

3. Responsabilities

  • Will take in identified women/minors referred and organize the necessary services required in coordination with the project psycosocial service staff (PSS)

  • Contributes to the identification of the needs of the beneficiaries and collaborates in defining the most appropriate reintegration support pathway, proposing the use of individual endowments and identifying external services or projects towards which to direct the beneficiaries

  • Creates contact between the relevant territorial services and the individual

  • Orients the beneficiaries to services provided in the area,  in order to identify and take advantage of new training, workshop and implementation opportunities for its resources

  • Supports beneficiaries and communities in developing their own capacities to face and solve their needs and/or problems independently

  • Prepares timely reports on cases taken on and coordinates with the project's psychosocial service staff (PSS) for multidimensional case management

  • Participates in data collection for the development of a needs analysis of the beneficiaries, identifying their most important vulnerabilities

  • Coordinates continuously with the shelter manager, psychologist, and psychosocial service staff (PSS) during missions and through remote communication modalities

  • Contacts the family of the beneficiaries and assists them in identifying a suitable family member to participate in trainings

  • Maintains contact with trained beneficiaries for follow-up activities 

3. Other job-related duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences; a Master's degree in areas related to the project will be preferred

  • Previous experience of at least two years in social intervention coordination and/or equivalent functions 

  • Strong interpersonal and empathic skills, analytical, reporting, independent and teamwork skills

  • Native speaker of Amharic, excellent knowledge of spoken and written English

  • Excellent skills in written communication and reporting

  • Good computer skills (Microsoft Office) and data analysis

  • High degree of ability to manage confidential and sensitive matters

  • Equal skills preference will be given to female candidates to facilitate relationship with beneficiaries
