The Senior Nurse at Teklehaimanot General Hospital plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of surgical procedures. This full-time position is designed for a Senior Executive (C Level) with a strong foundation in clinical practices and leadership in an office environment. The Senior Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality patient care, collaborating with surgical teams, and overseeing patient follow-up processes. The role requires a commitment to excellence in the healthcare sector, ensuring optimal outcomes for patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Triage & Assessment: Perform rapid, systematic patient assessments using the ABCDE (Airway, Breathing, Circulation, Disability, Exposure) approach and the Manchester Triage System (or similar) to prioritize care based on clinical urgency.

  • Emergency Intervention: Initiate life-saving interventions, including CPR, defibrillation, wound management, fracture stabilization, and the administration of emergency medications per protocol.

  • Monitoring: Continuously monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and neurological status; recognize and respond to clinical deterioration immediately.

  • Trauma Care: Assist in the resuscitation of major trauma patients, including the application of cervical collars, spinal boards, and hemorrhage control.

  • Diagnostic Support: Collect blood samples, insert urinary catheters, and prepare patients for urgent diagnostic imaging (X-ray, CT, Ultrasound).

  • Communication: Liaise effectively with paramedics, police, physicians, and other departments to ensure smooth patient handover and admission.

  • Patient & Family Support: Provide emotional support and clear, concise information to distressed patients and families regarding treatment plans and waiting times.

Qualifications:

  • BSc in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing.

  • Valid nursing license

  • Certification in BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) is mandatory.

  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or ENP (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) is highly desirable.

  • Minimum 2 years of acute clinical experience; ER experience is preferred.
