We are currently looking for qualified Senior Mechanical (HVAC & Firefighting) Engineers with strong design, estimation, and project execution experience in building services engineering.
Position Summary
The Senior Mechanical Engineer (HVAC & Firefighting) will be responsible for the design, review, coordination, estimation, and technical supervision of HVAC, ventilation, air conditioning, smoke extraction, and firefighting systems for building construction projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in project planning, cost control, technical coordination, installation supervision, testing, and commissioning activities.
The position requires extensive experience in mechanical design and construction, particularly in high-rise buildings, commercial developments, hotels, hospitals, and industrial facilities.
Job Requirements
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or with related field of study from a recognized university.
Experience
Minimum of 4 years of proven experience in HVAC and Firefighting System Design for building construction projects.
Minimum of 2 additional years of practical experience in mechanical installation and site supervision within construction projects.
Demonstrated experience in high-rise buildings, commercial buildings, hotels, hospitals, industrial facilities, or mixed-use developments is highly preferred.
Experience in high-rise building and large-scale commercial projects and experience in testing, balancing, commissioning, and operation of HVAC and firefighting systems will be given preference

Duties and Responsibilities
Mechanical Design and Engineering
Design HVAC systems including air conditioning, ventilation, smoke extraction, pressurization, chilled water systems, and ductwork systems.
Design firefighting systems including sprinkler systems, fire hose reels, hydrant systems, fire pumps, and related mechanical services.
Prepare detailed mechanical design drawings, layouts, schematics, and technical documentation.
Perform cooling and ventilation load calculations and equipment selection.
Develop mechanical system layouts in compliance with project requirements and applicable standards.
Review and optimize mechanical designs to improve efficiency, functionality, and cost-effectiveness.
Prepare technical specifications, schedules, and scopes of work for mechanical systems.
Quantity Surveying and Cost Estimation
Perform detailed quantity take-offs from drawings and project documents.
Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and material schedules.
Develop detailed cost estimates, cost breakdowns, and project budgets.
Prepare technical and financial proposals, tender documents, and price quotations.
Review supplier and subcontractor quotations and provide technical recommendations.
Support procurement activities through technical evaluations and material approvals.
Project Execution and Site Supervision
Provide technical guidance and support during project implementation.
Supervise HVAC and firefighting installation works to ensure compliance with approved designs and specifications.
Conduct site inspections and verify installation quality.
Coordinate testing, balancing, commissioning, and system handover activities.
Resolve technical issues arising during project execution.
Monitor project progress and ensure adherence to project schedules.
Coordination and Quality Control
Coordinate with Civil, Electrical, Plumbing, ICT, Architectural, and Structural teams.
Review shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements.
Ensure compliance with applicable mechanical engineering standards and safety requirements.
Participate in technical meetings, design reviews, and project coordination sessions.
Ensure all mechanical installations comply with quality standards and contractual requirements.
Reporting and Documentation
Prepare engineering reports, progress reports, and technical documentation.
Maintain accurate records of project activities, revisions, approvals, and inspections.
Provide regular updates to management regarding project status and technical issues.
Skills and Competencies
Strong expertise in HVAC, ventilation, air conditioning, and firefighting system design.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and other relevant engineering software.
Knowledge of HVAC load calculations and equipment selection.
Strong capability in quantity surveying, BOQ preparation, and cost estimation.
Ability to prepare technical specifications, reports, and project documentation.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication, coordination, and leadership abilities.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in software such as HAP, Duct Sizer, Pipe Sizer, Revit MEP, AutoCAD MEP, or similar engineering applications.
Knowledge of international standards including ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, IPC, and other relevant codes.
Professional certifications related to HVAC, Fire Protection Engineering, or Project Management.
