Key Purpose Statement:

The Excavation & Shoring Site Engineer is responsible for planning, supervising, and coordinating all excavation, earth retention, and shoring activities on construction sites. The role ensures that excavation works are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications, engineering standards, and applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

       1. Excavation & Earthworks Supervision

• Supervise daily excavation, shoring, and earthworks activities to ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved plans and project schedules.

  2. Construction Review & Technical Coordination

• Review construction drawings, specifications, and method statements prior to execution. Coordinate with consultants, surveyors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders to ensure technical requirements are fully understood and implemented.

  3. Excavation Support System Management

• Oversee the installation of excavation support systems, including sheet piles, soldier piles, secant piles, diaphragm walls, soil nails, and ground anchors, ensuring compliance with approved engineering designs and quality standards.

   4. Site Monitoring & Quality Assurance

• Monitor excavation progress, soil conditions, groundwater levels, and structural stability throughout construction. Verify setting-out, line, level, dimensions, and elevations while conducting quality inspections to ensure compliance with project specifications.

  5. Technical Problem Solving & Site Coordination

• Identify technical challenges during construction and recommend practical engineering solutions. Coordinate labor, materials, and equipment to maintain efficient site operations and minimize project delays.

  6. Safety, Environmental & Risk Management

• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality (HSEQ) requirements. Participate in toolbox talks, risk assessments, and site safety inspections to promote a safe working environment.

  7. Progress Reporting & Project Documentation

• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports. Assist in project scheduling, planning, quantity measurements, and the preparation of as-built documentation to support project control and successful

Job Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in in Civil Engineering, COTM  and Related Engineering Filed.

Experience: 

•  4 ­to 6 years’ experience in the construction industry predominantly in the building construction Strong knowledge of excavation support systems and temporary works.
