Organizational Overview:

The Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) associated with former President William J. Clinton’s Foundation is currently operating in Ethiopia carrying out a wide range of programs to support the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia in improving the health status of the country by ensuring access and quality of health services. We are committed to increasing our effectiveness through an innovative programming approach that optimizes quality, impact, and scale.  Being one of the largest CHAI field offices worldwide, we currently employ over 100 staff working in the following nine programs: Essential Medicine, Health Financing, HIV Access Program, Lab Services, Non-Communicable Diseases, Maternal and Newborn Health (MNH), Vaccines, Primary Health Care and Assistive Technology (AT).

Globally millions of children with disabilities are barred from their right to play because they lack access to life-changing assistive technology such as wheelchairs or hearing aids. Only a fraction of them gets the products and services they need, largely through charitable donations. CHAI’s Early Assistive Technology project aims to transform play for disabled children across eight countries in sub-Saharan Africa including Ethiopia and Asia. It will support governments to implement policies that integrate screening, early access to assistive technology, and play therapy into health facilities and schools.

In the AT program, CHAI works towards the goal of improving the quality of life for children (0 – 6 years) who have different forms of disabilities with the aim of building a world of play for these children. Like other CHAI programs AT Work will be closely planned, implemented and monitored with the Ministry of Health.

Key skills required for this job include: 1) excellent written and oral communication skills; 2) highly organized with excellent attention to detail; and 3) high motivation – willing to engage until a task is complete.

Under the guidance of the Program Manager, the position holder will be responsible to plan, implement, and monitor activities in partnership with MOH, other CHAI Programs, Partners and schools.
