Job Requirements

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree in Food Science or with related agricultural field of study

Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years in a similar capacity in the Food industry (experience on export)

• Experience in the Food Industry

Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for ensuring the production process operates in a timely, cost-efficient and profitable manner.

• Responsible for ensuring production process operates in a safe environment.

• Responsible for ensuring that production is run as per Ethical trading Initiative

• Receiving of orders and advising clients accordingly

• Sourcing for raw material

• General maintenance of the packing facility

•  Support and participate in packhouse incident management

• To manage the hygiene function of the factory.

• To ensure all hygiene procedures are operated in adherence with documented procedures.

• To review and develop both the hygiene and quality functions to improve their effectiveness and efficiencies

• To liaise with the Packhouse Manager on hygiene issues.

• To manage the quality function of the factory. 

• To ensure all quality procedures are operated in adherence with documented procedures and customer specifications

• To respond to customer complaints

• To maintain a data base for micro analysis on finished product and respond to out of specifications reported.

• To conduct internal audits of the factory systems against Luna Quality Manual and Customer requirements and Industry standards.

• To review and advise on production systems with the aim of improving their effectiveness and efficiencies and conform to the Luna Quality Manual, Supermarket COP’s and Industry standards.

• To organize for external 2nd and 3rd party audits

• To ensure all hygiene and quality department personnel are trained and competent to conduct the tasks for which they have been employed.

• To maintain and review the Packhouse training manual and matrix

• To ensure all hygiene and quality documentation is accurately produced and up to date.

• To collate historical hygiene and quality data for purposes of review and future development.

• To ensure all maintenance work is carried out according to the set regulations in order to avoid product contamination.

• Computer Literate.

• Good Writing skills

• Good Communication skills

• High degree for attention to detail

• Able to work at odd/long hours 

• Numerate, literate, computer literate. Integrity and honesty
