1. Job Summary

The Medical Doctor is responsible for diagnose, educate, and treat patients to ensure that they have the best possible care. The main duties of a doctor are performing diagnostic tests, recommending specialists for patients, document patient's medical history, and educating patients. They also have to administer vaccines and other treatments.

3. Duties and Responsibilities

Provide Basic and comprehensive EmONC services:

  • Administer parenteral antibiotics

  • Administer parenteral oxytocic drugs

  • Administer parenteral anticonvulsants for pre-eclampsia and eclampsia

  • Perform manual removal of placenta

  • Perform removal of retained products (e.g., manual vacuum aspiration)

  • Perform assisted vaginal delivery

  • Caesarean section (Surgery) and 

  • Safe blood transfusion

  • Provide ANC services 

  • Provide skilled delivery services 

  • Provide PNC services 

  • Provide neonatal care services 

  • Provide immunization services to pregnant ladies and under-one children 

  • Provide safe abortion services using MVA 

  • Provide medication abortion 

  • Treat and manage complications of incomplete abortion 

  • Provide post abortion FP 

  • Provide comprehensive FP services: 

  • Provide long term family planning methods including implants and IUCD

  • Provide surgical contraception methods including VSC and Tubal Ligations.

  • Treat and manage STIs cases as per the national guideline

  • Provide HIV/AIDS counseling, testing and care and support services   

  • Treat and manage OIs 

  • Provide ART for PMTCT for pregnant ladies as per the national guideline

  • Provide medical and psychosocial services for rape survivors

  • Provide medical/surgical and psychosocial services for infertility, impotence, fistula and other gynecological problems

  • Provide referral services to clients and follow-up of referred clients 

  • Provide other clinical and medicals services as required

  • Assist the Clinic Coordinator in undertaking Planning, organizing and coordinating the Clinic activities

  • Participates in capacity building initiatives such as training of health workers 

  • Conduct operational researches to improve quality of services 

  • Conduct regular monitoring and evaluation of clinic and outreach based activities to identify any gap/challenge and propose timely solutions 

  • Provide the necessary technical assistance to health workers 

  • Act as a team leader for health workers and enforce the team work sprit

  • Represent the AO/FGAE at regional meetings and technical working groups.

  • Ensure patient privacy and confidentiality of information including use and keeping medical records in proper places 

  • Ensure adequate and appropriate medical and clinical supplies are provided to clients

  • Ensure standard infection prevention precautions are practiced and the clinic environment is friendly both for the providers and users. 

  • Ensure the adequate availability of medical equipment, supplies and pharmaceuticals necessary to provide comprehensive SRH services at the clinics

Provide Safe motherhood services:

       Provide comprehensive abortion care services as per the provisions of abortion law:

  • Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.

Job Requirements

Education

  • MD

Experience 

  • Three [3] Years on hand service after Medical graduate ;

Skills & Attributes

  • Proficient in carrying out professional tasks; Good Communication and Interpersonal skills; Capacity to be compassionate and caring; Counseling skill, prochoice
