Mahibere Hiwot for Social Development (MSD) is a non-profit, indigenous civil society organization established in 1999 with the aim of improving the health, wellbeing, and socio-economic status of communities across Ethiopia. Since its inception, MSD has evolved into a leading development and humanitarian organization implementing evidence-based programs that address the diverse needs of vulnerable populations.
MSD's programmatic focus spans multiple sectors, including Health and Nutrition (TB, HIV/AIDS, SRH, MNCH), Education (access to quality education, TVET, and skills development), Social Mobilization and Livelihood (economic strengthening and prevention of HTPs, GBV, and FGM), Migration and Trafficking (safe migration and rehabilitation of returnees and victims), Child Care and Development (child protection, early childhood care, and infant feeding), and Human Rights and Good Governance (democratization, peace building, and dialogue).
In addition, MSD engages in Humanitarian and Emergency Response (supporting disaster-affected and displaced communities) and Environment and Climate Change (promoting environmental sustainability and biodiversity conservation). Through these integrated interventions, MSD works closely with government institutions, community structures, and development partners to foster inclusive growth, equity, and resilience at all levels of society.

Job Summary
The IT/Communication Officer is a dual-function role responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and upgrading computer systems and networks. Simultaneously, they serve as the organization’s Brand Custodian, focusing on building public awareness and maintaining a consistent organizational identity across digital platforms. This role emphasizes content strategy, visual storytelling, and ensuring seamless internal technical operations without engaging in lead generation
Job Requirements:
Education/ Training : BSc in Computer Science, IT related field
Experience: 2 years proven experience as IT Officer
Certification as IT Technician will be an advantage (e.g CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional)
TECHNICAL AND OTHER SKILLS
Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication ability
Outstanding organizational and time-management skills
In depth understanding of diverse computer systems and networks
Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles
Duties and Responsibilities:
Network & Security: Develop and maintain local networks to optimize performance while ensuring system security and privacy.
System Configuration: Install and configure software and hardware (HDD, mice, keyboards) according to specifications.
Database Management: Administer database information systems to ensure data integrity.
System Oversight: Oversee the smooth running of computer systems to ensure users get maximum benefits from them.
Brand Stewardship: Maintain the organizational brand and professional public messaging across all social media channels.
Awareness Building: Create and manage digital content to increase public knowledge of the organization’s work.
Graphic Design: Lead the design and production of promotional/informational materials including banners, flyers, booklets, and folders.
Web Management: Perform periodical updates to the organizational website, specifically managing visual banners and digital layouts.
Wider Team Support: Provide rapid-response troubleshooting and technical assistance to the entire organization.
Internal Facilitation: Facilitate internal requests and schedule maintenance to ensure smooth operations without deterring others from their work.
User Training: Provide orientation and guidance to staff on operating new software and equipment.
Inventory Records: Maintain up-to-date records of computers, printers, scanners, and associated spare parts.
Maintain detailed logs of repairs, fixes, and maintenance schedules.
A person who has no history of sexual exploitation, abuse, or harassment (SEAH) can provide evidence from his/her previous employment.
