Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Design Engineer

Job Requirements

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree or above in Traffic Engineering, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Electrical Engineering and Automation, Communication Engineering, Electronic Information Engineering, Automation, or a related field.

Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in expressway ITS and/or electromechanical system design.

• Demonstrated understanding of the full design process for expressway electromechanical and intelligent transportation systems.

• Previous experience working in a design institute is highly preferred.

• Experience with the full lifecycle design of new expressway construction, expansion, or reconstruction projects is an advantage.

Skills & Competencies

Technical Competencies

• Strong knowledge of the principles and applications of major expressway ITS subsystems, including:

• Video surveillance systems

• Communication systems

• Electronic toll collection systems

• Tunnel electromechanical systems

• Intelligent traffic sensing systems

• Variable/message information and information dissemination systems

• Emergency command and management systems

• Familiarity with emerging intelligent transportation technologies and frameworks, including Smart Expressways, Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X), and intelligent operation and maintenance (O&M) platforms.

• Proficient in AutoCAD, Visio, and other relevant engineering design and drafting software.

• Ability to independently prepare complete engineering drawing packages, including:

• System topology diagrams

• System layout plans

• Electrical and system schematics

• Equipment installation drawings

• Able to prepare technical specifications, bills of quantities (BOQs), cost estimates, and preliminary budget documents.

• Thorough knowledge of applicable national and industry standards, codes, and technical specifications for highway ITS and electromechanical engineering.

• Familiarity with relevant highway engineering and electromechanical design standards and regulations.

• Knowledge of mainstream expressway ITS equipment, including product specifications, technical performance, and application scenarios.

• Ability to conduct equipment selection, technical comparison, and system/solution optimization.

Communication & Coordination Skills

• Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to independently coordinate with project owners, general contractors, consultants, and construction teams.

• Capable of accurately understanding project requirements and translating them into practical technical solutions.

• Able to lead or participate effectively in technical coordination meetings, design presentations, and technical Q&A sessions.
