Job Profile
The Human Resources (HR) Manager is responsible for developing and implementing HR strategies that support Afritrans Trading PLC operational and business objectives. The role oversees all aspects of human resource management, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, learning and development, compensation and benefits, compliance, and organizational culture. The HR Manager plays a key role in attracting, developing, and retaining a high-performing workforce while ensuring compliance with Ethiopian labor laws and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Human Resource Strategy
Develop and implement HR policies, strategies, and procedures aligned with the company's business objectives.
Support change management and continuous improvement programs across the organization.
Develop HR metrics and reports to support informed decision-making.
Recruitment and Talent Acquisition
Lead end-to-end recruitment and selection processes for both office and operational staff.
Develop job descriptions and person specifications for all positions.
Coordinate interviews, candidate assessments, reference checks, and onboarding activities.
Build relationships with recruitment agencies, universities, and professional networks.
Employee Relations
Foster a positive workplace culture that promotes teamwork, accountability, and employee engagement.
Handle employee grievances, disciplinary matters, and conflict resolution professionally and fairly.
Provide guidance to managers on employee relations and people management issues.
Conduct employee satisfaction surveys and implement improvement initiatives.
Performance Management
Develop and manage the company's performance appraisal system.
Support managers in setting performance objectives and conducting performance reviews.
Monitor employee performance and recommend development interventions.
Coordinate succession planning and talent management initiatives.
Learning and Development
Identify organizational training needs through skills gap analysis.
Develop annual training plans and coordinate employee development programs.
Organize leadership development, compliance training, customer service, and logistics-related training.
Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs.
Compensation and Benefits
Administer employee compensation structures and benefits programs.
Conduct salary benchmarking and recommend competitive remuneration practices.
Coordinate payroll inputs with the Finance department.
Ensure timely administration of employee benefits, leave, and insurance schemes.
HR Administration
Maintain accurate employee records and HR information systems.
Prepare employment contracts, confirmation letters, promotion letters, and other HR documentation.
Manage employee attendance, leave administration, and personnel files.
Prepare periodic HR reports for management.
Compliance and Labor Relations
Ensure compliance with Ethiopian labor laws and statutory regulations.
Keep HR policies updated in line with legal requirements.
Organizational Development
Support organizational restructuring and workforce optimization initiatives.
Promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and employee wellbeing.
Drive employee engagement, recognition, and retention programs.
Champion company values and ethical conduct.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in human resource management, Business Administration or a related field.
Master's degree in human resource management or business administration is an added advantage.
Experience
Minimum of 5–8 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
Experience within the logistics, transportation, supply chain, manufacturing, or service industry is highly desirable.
Strong experience in recruitment, performance management, employee relations, and HR compliance.
Experience managing HR systems and organizational development initiatives.
