ABYS Trading PLC is the leading Manufacturing Company of Ethiopia which manufactures agriculture products both for local and international markets. It has been active since 2012 and exports over 40 high quality value added agricultural products which meet world relevant standards to three main destination countries such as America, Canada and Australia and other locations.  Moreover, it distributed such products to local market. Nowadays, in line with government trade, marketing and development strategies, it strives to produce world class products of having high demand. This effort has allowed it to start to generate foreign currency and create job opportunity for 500 Ethiopian youths. 

Now it is seeking a human resource director (a transformative leader) who thrives on overcoming challenges and driving progress within an ABAYS’s most valuable asset: its people. As the head of the HR department, HR director embodies collaboration and determination, strategically shaping company’s culture, innovating talent recruitment and development, and ensuring seamless execution of employee-related processes.

POSITION SCOPE: Serves as primary department representative and leads Human Capital, legal and liaising endeavors of ABAYS Trading PLC.  Ensures staff and departments’ compliance ABAYS’s, National and Regional Governments’ policies, rules and regulations. Provides broad human capital strategic direction and expertise in the development of organization initiatives to assure successful achievement of goals and objectives 

DECISION MAKING/PROBLEM SOLVING: Evaluates risk factors with potential to disrupt achievement of strategic goals and sets appropriate course of action in response. Investigates and analyzes current information from various sources on various HR functions to inform decision making and the development of protocols and procedures. Oversees implementation of labor strategies to track and mitigate risk and its potential impact

 

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY: Authority to establish and implement procedures for managing departmental fiscal resources. Ensures the planned activities of HR/Admin, Law and Liaising departments are implemented in a timely manner. Manages all kinds of up to standard reports of HR/Admin, Law and Liaising departments are submitted on time. Runs staff performance management to best create high performing team. 

RELATIONSHIPS: Serves as primary human resource department representative of ABAYS with government and non-government actors on human capital agendas. Manages and maintains collaborative working relationship with senior level stakeholders within and outside ABAYS to ensure timely and successful achievement of ABAYS business goals

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic direction of human resource administration and legal matters managements to Senior Management Team (SMT) 

  • Develop creative practices and programs that identify, source, assess and hire the best talent to meet changing and evolving business needs;

  • Set and lead towards a vision for exceptional talent practices at all levels of the organization to meet current and future staffing needs;

  • Execute the recruitment strategy effectively ensuring the right talent is ready at the right time and influence the entire recruitment process to provide direction on talent needs;

  • Drive employee engagement in working with executive leadership to develop effective internal communications strategies, processes, tools, and training to promote morale and productivity;

  • Execute talent management programs including performance management, training, total rewards competitive benefits, surveys, and compensation

  • Provide metrics to management to allow for better managing of teams.

  • Coach and advise on a wide range of core human resource functions including organizational design, HR policies, and best practices;

  • Lead the development and execution of Human Resources strategic and annual plans in alignment with the organizational goals, and mission;

  • Ensure compliance with federal and regional state laws and best practices in HR and administration procedures so that they are efficient, accurate, timely, and responsive;

  • Manage the ABAYS’s employees Insurance policies

  • Responsible for HR and Administration department budget; review and negotiate HR-related contracts and agreements

  • Develop safe employees exit strategies

  • Design preventive strategies of legal complications on labor matters 

  • Orchestrate facts and evidences of labor matter to help the legal team to  amalgamate  these with pertinent law and defend ABAYS’s best interest

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

Educational Background: 

  • MA/BA degree in Human Resource Management and Management

Experience:

  • Respectively, MA/BA 6/8 year of experience in Human resource and administration operation, 

  • Strong knowledge of Labor / Social security /Tax administration and Tertiary Education,    Proclamations; Revenue/Cost Sharing Rules and Directives,

  • Strong Experience on pre Payroll data administration,

  • Experience working with ERP systems and HR/Admin software,

  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills,

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a data-driven approach to decision-making,

  • Ability to work under pressure, to manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines

  • Fluent in English, Afaan Oromo and Amharic

Job Requirements The role requires an MA or BA degree in Human Resource Management, Management, or a related field.
