Working with and reporting to the emergency outreach coordinator and responsible for timely preparation and submission of monthly performance reports. The Social Worker for Women & Girls Friendly Services is responsible for facilitating, managing, and coordinating daily activities within a safe space. They provide psychosocial support, case management for survivors of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), and facilitate community mobilization to promote the empowerment, health, and protection of women and girls.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Safe Space Management & Facilitation
Establishment: Assist in identifying, setting up, and maintaining a secure, confidential, and welcoming physical space for women and girls.
Recreational Activities: Facilitate structured activities, such as handicrafts, art therapy, and group discussions, to foster community and support networks.
Information Sharing: Conduct awareness-raising sessions on health, hygiene, nutrition, livelihoods, and SRH
2. Psychosocial Support & Case Management
Individual Counseling: Provide psychological first aid and emotional support to survivors of violence or those in distress.
Case Management: Assess immediate needs, develop, and monitor care plans for women and girls, ensuring confidentiality and safety.
Referrals: Facilitate referrals to specialized services, including legal, medical, and specialized mental health services (MHPSS).
3. Community Outreach & Protection
Community Mobilization: Organize community dialogues and campaigns to raise awareness on topics like early marriage and women’s empowerment.
Network Building: Build and strengthen community protection groups to support vulnerable women and girls.
4. Monitoring, Reporting & Administration
Data Management: Collect, compile, and analyze data on service utilization, adhering to strict data protection protocols.
Reporting: Submit regular reports on activities, challenges, and outcomes to the supervisor or project manager.
Coordination: Participate in GBV/Protection cluster meetings and coordinate with other humanitarian actors.
Job Requirements
Education: University degree in Social Work, Sociology, Gender Studies, Psychology, or related fields.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in social work, case management, or working with women and girls in humanitarian or community settings.
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) guiding principles.
Confidentiality: Strict adherence to confidentiality and ethical guidelines.
Languages: Fluency in the local language(s) Afar
Working Conditions
This position is often based in refugee camps or nearby health centers, in the Afar region where operationalized
The role may require high flexibility to respond to evolving security or community situations
