Sky Property Management PLC is looking for a qualified, experienced, and highly motivated Construction Project Purchaser to join our project team in Addis Ababa.

The Purchaser will work under the supervision of the Project Admin and Finance Officer and will be responsible for the timely, cost-effective, and properly documented procurement of construction materials, equipment, tools, and other project requirements.

🔹 Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process purchase requests based on approved project requirements.

  • Source and identify reliable suppliers for construction materials, equipment, tools, consumables, and other project requirements.

  • Obtain and compare quotations from multiple suppliers and prepare comparative statements.

  • Conduct effective price and commercial negotiations with suppliers to achieve competitive prices and favorable terms.

  • Negotiate payment terms, delivery schedules, warranties, quality requirements, and other contractual conditions.

  • Maintain a reliable database of suppliers, prices, products, and market information.

  • Monitor construction material prices and market conditions and provide timely information to project management.

  • Ensure materials are purchased according to the required specifications, quality, quantity, and delivery schedule.

  • Coordinate with the Project Manager, Site Engineers, Storekeepers, Project Admin and Finance Officer, and other relevant personnel regarding procurement requirements.

  • Follow up purchase orders and ensure materials are delivered to the project site on time.

  • Coordinate with the Storekeeper to verify quantities and delivery documentation upon receipt of materials.

  • Ensure proper documentation of quotations, purchase orders, invoices, delivery notes, receipts, and other procurement records.

  • Submit procurement documents and reports to the Project Admin and Finance Officer for review, payment processing, and financial recording.

  • Assist in controlling project procurement costs and avoiding unnecessary purchases or wastage.

  • Ensure procurement is carried out in accordance with company policies, approved budgets, and project procedures.

  • Identify alternative suppliers and materials when required without compromising quality or project specifications.

  • Develop and maintain good professional relationships with suppliers while protecting the company's commercial interests.

  • Handle procurement issues, delayed deliveries, price changes, shortages, and supplier disputes effectively.

  • Maintain confidentiality of supplier prices, company purchasing information, and commercial terms.

  • Ability to make sound purchasing decisions within approved authority

  • Ability to coordinate effectively with site, store, administration, finance, and management teams

  • Ability to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality

  • Willingness to work at construction project sites and respond to urgent procurement requirements when necessary.

🎓 Qualification & Experience

  • Minimum BSc Degree in:

  • Procurement and Supply Management

  • Sales/Marketing

  • Accounting

  • or a related field.

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in construction material purchasing/procurement.

  • Previous experience working with a construction company or construction project is highly preferred.

  • Practical knowledge of purchasing a wide range of construction materials, including building materials, finishing materials, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and other project-related materials, is an advantage.
