Company Description

This position is part of the African-European Museum Partnerships (SAEMP) project , a five-year, EUR 20 million programme funded by the European Union and co-financed by France, Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands. ointly implemented by Expertise France and the Goethe-Institut, and developed in collaboration with the African Union Commission, the project supports stronger economic and socio-cultural relations between Africa and Europe through the museum sector.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site position based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The Collections and Exhibitions Lead will manage key activities related to strengthening African-European museum partnerships. Responsibilities include overseeing debt and cash collection activities, facilitating effective collaboration between international museum stakeholders, ensuring compliance with financial procedures, and enhancing customer service processes. The role also involves communicating with internal and external partners to promote effective and efficient operations, contributing to sustainable cultural partnerships.

Required profile

• The aim of this call for applications is to recruit a Collections and Exhibitions Lead. The candidate must have the following skills and expertise:
• – University degree (Master’s level or equivalent) in cultural heritage management, museum studies, cultural cooperation, architecture, innovation or a relevant field.
• – Minimum of 7 years of experience in heritage-related projects, including experience in museum management and/or conservation, and/or exhibition curation.
• – Solid understanding of Sub-Saharan African contexts, including cultural and institutional environments.
• – Strong coordination, communication, and project reporting skills.
• – Proven international working experience and on international funded programs, particularly EU-funded projects and grant-based mechanisms.
• – Excellent oral and written proficiency in both French and English.
• – Other language skills relevant on the African continent appreciated.
• – Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and with diverse partners
